Reflexology

Deborah Jenkins

Did you know there are 7,200 nerve endings in the sole of each foot? These nerve endings correspond to all the organs and systems of the body. Meaning that your whole body is literally mapped out on the soles of your feet.

Reflexology is the holistic practice of applying different types of pressure to the various reflexes on the feet. This helps to clear any blockages in the nerve pathways and encourages the body to trigger its own natural healing responses. It also increases blood flow and lymph drainage so helping to improve general well-being.

Reflexology is deeply relaxing and is balancing to all the systems of the body. It is beneficial to a whole host of conditions including:

  • insomnia
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Stress
  • Hormonal imbalance including menopause and puberty
  • Preparing for pregnancy
  • Preparing for labour and delivery
  • Migraines and headaches
  • Digestive disorders
  • Improves circulation
  • Reduces pain
  • Improve overall health and well-being

What happens in the appointment

The first initial treatment is 90 minutes as we examine and map the feet before starting. The first treatment also takes a little longer as we may find a lot to clear at first. After that we can do 60 minute or 30 minute treatments regularly.

You will be seated in my amazingly comfortable zero gravity chair and reclined with your ankles supported. Your feet will then be lightly cleansed before being massaged. Then we will begin working on the various reflexes of the foot.

You will only need to remove socks and shoes for this treatment and the touch is firm but gentle so most people do not find it at all ticklish.

A course of treatments is the best approach with reflexology rather than a one off as we are working on a deep level in the body and with long term conditions and deep rooted problems it can take a few treatments to see a lasting breakthrough. I often remind people that it usually takes months or years to develop these problems so it usually takes more than an hour to improve or reverse them.
