Emotional stress can inhibit the immune system and interfere with healing. Pain or illness is rarely without emotional associations. My particular interest lies in helping people to explore the connections between what is going on in their health and in their emotional lives.

More detailed explanation
My interest in working with people through the body began in 1979 when I trained in therapeutic massage. My previous experience as a social worker gave me a foundation of interpersonal training upon which to build my bodywork skills.
I became a Touch For Health instructor in 1981 and, after further study of Kinesiology, this became the initial focus for my practice. Muscle testing is the main diagnostic technique within Kinesiology. Click here for Isobel’s detailed explanation and personal experience of muscle testing
I qualified as a McTimoney Chiropractor in 1987, practising as a chiropractor until coming off the General Chiropractic Council register on the 31st December 2014, see note above. I completed two post graduate courses in Craniosacral Therapy, with Thomas Atlee in 1991 and with Franklyn Sills in 1997
My particular interest lies in helping people to explore the connections between what is going on in their health and in their emotional lives. Pain or illness is rarely without emotional associations whether they are cause or effect. If not acknowledged or resolved, emotional stress can inhibit the immune system and interfere with healing. The corner stone of all my work is the creation of a relationship of trust and safety, within which healing can happen at whatever level it needs to.
As these three therapeutic approaches complement each other so well, I tend to use them in combination as appropriate, whilst also respecting the client’s preferences. My aim is always to give each person as much information as possible, so that they will feel more in charge of their own health and well-being. My experience is that the symptoms which bring someone for help initially, can be the starting point for a ‘journey’ which takes them into other, sometimes unexpected but rewarding territory. I feel privileged to share their journey, whilst using my skills and expertise to facilitate and support their healing.
