I have always had a passion for cooking and eating delicious healthy food. Having worked for many years in the NHS, I decided to combine my interest in health and wellbeing with my love of food, by training as a Nutritional Therapist. I completed a degree course in Nutritional Medicine, graduating in 2009. The course was fascinating and combined studying the science of food and nutrition and its effect on health, with supervised clinical training working directly with clients.

I am able to bring my in-depth knowledge of nutrition together with my experience of working with people as an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, to help me work effectively with individuals who want to use food and nutrition to improve their health and wellbeing.

I am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (the UK regulator set up by the Government to ensure that registered Therapists are fully trained), and follow the code of practice of my professional association, the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT).

About Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy is an individual-centred approach to healthcare which uses nutritional and lifestyle interventions to help you optimise your physiological, cognitive and emotional functioning. This approach has been shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body including:

  • Digestion
  • Cardiovascular (heart and circulation)
  • Respiratory (breathing)
  • Bones and muscles
  • Hormones e.g. female hormones (menstruation and menopause)
  • Immune system (resistance to illness)
  • Reproductive system (fertility)
  • Skin
  • Nervous system (brain and nerves)

Nutritional Therapy uses specific adjustments in your eating pattern and food choices and in some cases the use of targeted nutritional supplements. It is a natural approach which helps to improve and maintain the body’s functions, to support health. Whilst simple changes often bring quick improvements in energy levels, bowel function, sleep pattern, mood etc, some conditions may need a longer term approach.

About your Nutritional Therapy consultation

Your initial consultation consists of two separate appointments:

We also discuss practical ways to put the plan into practice. My approach is always to work closely with you in a supportive way, so that you can make changes at the pace which is right for you and fits in with your life.

Follow-up appointments are available to help you maintain your motivation, to monitoryour progress, and to adjust your programme as needed.
