If you have ever been to India, you will know that feeling of intense heat, the scent of exotic spices and incense, the noise and mayhem all around you, street sellers shouting, horns blaring out and the sound of holy cows mooing and temple bells ringing. To me there is no place quite like India, its intensity and richness of Spirituality permeates my very core, and has awakened my soul. This is the home of one of the oldest medical systems in the world, Ayurveda.

Ayurveda is approximately 5000 years old, it is the sister science of yoga and can be translated as knowledge of life, the art of living a long, healthy and happy life.

Those who practice Ayurveda believe it’s based on the understanding that health and wellness depend on a harmonious balance between the mind, body and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health and prevent disease and treatments may be tailored more to target specific health problems.

We believe that every person is made of the five elements found in the universe: earth air, fire, water, and space. These combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies, called doshas, which control how your body works. They are Vata dosha (space and air); Pitta dosha (fire and water); and Kapha dosha (water and earth).

Everyone inherits a unique balance of the three doshas, but one is usually stronger than the others. Each dosha controls a different bodily function. It’s believed that your chances of dis-ease and the health issues you develop are linked to the balance of your doshas.

I would say my compassion for humanity and our planet led me to study Ayurveda and In 2003 I began a three year diploma in Ayurvedic medicine at the Ayurvedic clinic in Purley. This included three months clinical practice in Sri Lanka, graduating in June 2006. As a registered member of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association I am passionate about Ayurveda. I have a keen interest in spirituality and practice yoga and meditation regularly, I have sixteen years of experience as a practicing and professional health and beauty therapist.

I have been working in Kent and East Sussex as an Ayurvedic practitioner for over ten years running an established and successful business, ‘Aditi health’. I have recently moved to Sheffield and am really excited to be sharing with you the immense health benefits and wisdom Ayurveda can offer.

The main focus of my treatments is for my clients to achieve a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit through the practice of the ancient art of Ayurveda, incorporating diet and life style, herbal remedies and massage therapies.

Ayurvedic consultations

On your first visit I will do a consultation and we will discuss your health and well being and decide the best course of treatment for you moving forward. I will check your pulse to determine your prakruti (balanced state) and your vikruti (imbalances).

I offer full Ayurvedic consultations where we will look at ways to improve your diet and lifestyle to best suit your constitution and discuss appropriate herbal remedies and therapies for your individual needs.

Initial Consultation (60mins) £55    Follow-up Consultations (40mins) £40

Ayurvedic massage therapy

Abyangha and marma therapy -This is a deeply healing and restorative treatment for the body using specially selected herbal oils to balance your doshas.  It works on vital energy points to release tension in the muscles and stimulate the body’s own systems to heal and renew, bringing pain relief, release of blocked energy, deep relaxation and transformative effects.

Ayurvedic Full Body Massage (90mins) £70

Ayurvedic Abhyanga Massage (1hr) £50

Ayurvedic Back & Chakra Massage (45mins) £40

Ayurvedic Head Massage (45mins) £40

Pinda Sweda

This is a traditional treatment which uses heated boluses/pindas the size of a large orange, made from nourishing grains, herbs and oils.  The pindas are used to firmly massage the entire body and promote sweating.

Used for relief of chronic and acute muscle and joint pain, rehabilitates and rejuvenates fatigued muscles and joints.  It also reduces fat, treats cellulite and improves skin tone and texture.

Prior to the Pinda Sveda the whole body is massaged with the appropriate herbal oil.

Pinda Sveda is excellent for vata and kapha disorders since both doshas are innately cold in nature and the excessive heat stimulates the fat tissues and releases sweat through the skin, generating a total euphoria of warmth throughout the whole system.

Pinda Sweda (90mins) £80

In Ayurveda the head is considered to be the most important part of the body to be treated.  The head contains four of the five sensory organs of the body and seven of the nine bodily apertures through which we interact with the external universe.  On the crown of the head is the sacred shrine called Sahasrara chakra, through which the soul is said to enter the body at birth and leave after death.

Shirodhara is known as the ‘king’ of treatments.  It is the process by which warm oil or medicated liquid is methodically drizzled onto the forehead from a specially designed pot hung directly above the client.  This is an ancient technique and the flow is maintained at a certain rhythmic speed to awaken the third eye.  Vast and miraculous healing occurs when this technique is performed to perfection.

Through the rhythm of the oil trickling onto the third eye, which is the seat of our cognitive memories, awakening of these memories occurs, bodily tissues are transformed and good health is restored.

Prior to Shirodhara therapy the preliminary procedure of abhyanga massage is performed around the neck and shoulder area.

This is a truly soporific treat, Shirodhara soothes and invigorates the senses as well as the mind, inducing a total state of relaxation and wellness.

Shirodhara helps in clearing mental fog and nagging thoughts including addictions and calms the nervous system.  This is a fantastic treatment for stress relief.

Shirodhara is used to treat depression, insomnia, headaches, neurological disorders, mental disorders, exhaustion, sinusitis, anxiety, allergic rhinitis, weakness of muscles and joints, facial paralysis, hearing impairment, menieres disease, tinnitus, vision problems, premature greying hair, dandruff, scalp sores and inflammation of the head.

Shirodhara (60mins) £65

Throughout each session I work very intuitively and will often combine energy healing modalities within the treatment such as Reiki, Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT) and Spiritual Restructuring (SpR) for maximum benefit, healing and relaxation.

Usui, Seichem and Karuna Reiki

This is a sacred and powerful form of healing the mind, body and spirit. Working at a very deep level to re balance your energies and help to bring you a greater sense of peace and well-being. This treatment can be performed with hands on or off the body and may be incorporated within a treatment.

As a Reiki Master I am attuned to work with all three of these systems and they can be incorporated throughout the treatment according to your individual needs.

It is my belief that I am working with universal life force energy, to assist the body to enter into a deep state of relaxation, enabling it to re balance and harmonise. This can help to facilitate your own healing ability and may alleviate symptoms of pain and discomfort in the body and release mental and emotional stress, leaving you with a greater sense of peace and well being.

Usui, Seichem and Karuna Reiki (45mins) £40

SRT is a very profound, spiritual technique for researching and eliminating discordant programmes that have accumulated in the sub conscious and soul record from life experiences. A program is a strong sub conscious ‘script’ often accompanied by negative emotional energy, that is played out in your current life in response to triggers such as events you have experienced or persons that you have known in past lives. By clearing these programmes we are free to make clear conscious choices in the present without the undue influence of these negative programmes from our past.

Spiritual response therapy (SRT) (1 hour) £50

SpR identifies and releases discordant energies that have created problems and contributed to mental, emotional and physical trauma being held in the body. SpR helps to Correct muscle imbalances, which allow the bones and tissues to return to their proper position, releasing blocks and negative energies from organs and glands to allow the healing energy to flow through enhancing the bodily functions. Balancing the Chakras, Auric field and body systems SpR recognises the body’s own innate intelligence and ability to self correct and heal itself.

Spiritual Restructuring (SpR) (75 mins) £60

I have found this synergy of Ayurveda combined with these healing techniques works wonders in my practice and continues to offer the possibility of deep healing bringing a greater sense of peace, harmony and balance.

‘Through Ayurvedic practices of diet, herbs and massage *.  Pru has helped me find clarity, balance and space in my life. Pru is a gentle and compassionate person and I am grateful for her wisdom in my life.’ Bee Roberts (March 2018, Sheffield)

A lovely experience. Reached areas that needed releasing. Feeling so much better and relaxed. (Nov 2017 V. Blackburn)

Pru has a real gift!
Her massages are gentle but firm and penetrate deeply. I have seen significant improvement in my physical well being as a result of working with her. Also, I have done a lot of SRT clearing work with Pru which has been hugely beneficial and freeing. In this respect I found her to be very compassionate, wise and grounding as she assisted me through a very unsettling period. She also has a lightness and ease about her which is refreshing as we have laughed at something’s I’ve been stuck on and I have really appreciated this aspect and quality in her while doing some very deep work. If you’ve never tried Ayurvedic massages or healing modalities but are open to something a bit different I totally recommend you book a session with Pru! S. Nicholas (Feb 2018, Sheffield)
